Ron Onesti, owner of the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles, Illinois says he's interviewed enough people to feel confident in saying notorious gangster Al Capone spent time at the Arcada back in the late 1920s, and even ran a brothel below the stage.
As part of WBEZ's Curious City, Katie Conrad of St. Charles asked us a question about Al Capone. She wanted to know whether or not there were tunnels underneath Chicago that ran all the way to St. Charles, which she'd heard rumors of growing up. While we weren't able to find evidence of that, we did find it a worthwhile idea to venture out to St. Charles to the Arcada Theatre to see what was down there (and scare ourselves, Scooby Doo style).
WBEZ's Alex Keefe reported this story out. Learn more here: curiouscity.wbez.org/#!/archive/question/2
